MeetingOn Thursday, October 24, 2013, Mr. Soheaktra Nou was invited by Professor Bee Yang and Dr. Ghia Xiong to attend the welcoming for Fresno State’s new President Dr. Joseph I. Castro and his wife Mrs. Castro from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Fresno Cambodian Buddhist Society Inc., 2533 N. Valentine Avenue, Fresno, CA 93722. L/R: Mr. Sopheaktra Nou (CRC’s Executive Director ), Dr. Tou Herr ( Fresno County Office Education ),Mr. Paul P. Sinpraseuth ( Fresno County Office Education ). The Cambodian Reconciliation Committee in Fresno has long served as a bridge between the local Cambodian community and the broader Central Valley, connecting families with resources, cultural programs, and educational opportunities. Through its work with temples, schools, and community organizations, the committee fosters a spirit of unity and mutual support among Southeast Asian residents. Its presence on social media and community radio helps share news, announcements, and event information that keeps the community informed and engaged. By hosting gatherings, luncheons, and cultural celebrations, the organization strengthens the bonds that tie generations together while preserving Khmer heritage and traditions for the future. The committee's leadership has consistently sought to build relationships with civic institutions, including local government offices, universities, and educational agencies. Such connections allow the organization to advocate effectively for the needs of Cambodian families throughout Fresno County and beyond. Participation in welcoming events, collaborative meetings, and public forums demonstrates the committee's commitment to being an active and respected voice in the region. These partnerships also open doors for youth programs, adult education, and health-related services that benefit the community at large, ensuring that the organization remains relevant and responsive to changing needs. Support from sponsors and individual donors plays a vital role in sustaining the committee's many initiatives, from temple renovations to community outreach efforts. Contributions help fund cultural events, educational workshops, and assistance programs that touch the lives of families across the city. The organization welcomes those who wish to give back, whether through financial support, volunteering time, or sharing resources. With continued generosity from the community, the Cambodian Reconciliation Committee can keep expanding its services and reach, honoring its founding mission of reconciliation, education, and mutual care among the people of Cambodian descent living in the United States.
